5. Green Onions

To grow scallions, just drop the scrap in a glass of water, making sure that the base of the bulb is facing downwards.

Cover the roots with water and refresh the liquid every few days to avoid bad bacteria.

Keep in a well-lit room and you’ll have new onions in as little as a week.

In order to regrow scallions, in a smaller glass of water, place the roots together with an inch left, and keep the glass in a well-lit room.

6. Romaine Lettuce

Place the stump of your lettuce in half an inch of water in a spot with indirect light.

Refill the water diligently so that there’s always the same amount.

After new roots and young leaves have grown, plant the stump into nutrient-dense soil and you’ll have a new plant in no time.

7. Carrots

Place carrot tops in a shallow dish with water and keep in a well-lit room.

Change the water regularly and watch them grow.

Once they’ve sprouted new growth at the top, plant the carrot top in deep soil, making sure to cover the old carrot without burying the new growth.

Bonus:

8. Cilantro

If possible, purchase this fragrant herb with its roots intact and do not injure the stem as you pluck the leaves for use.

If your stem doesn’t have roots, place in a jar on a sunny windowsill in some coconut water. It will act as a natural rooting hormone and move things along. Replace the coconut water every few days.

Once your roots are a few inches long, plant in a deep pot and place in a sunny spot. A few plant will grow within a few months.

9. Lemongrass

Lemongrass can be regrown just like green onions. Keep the roots after use and place in a glass of water, making sure that the root is sitting in water rather than being submerged. Place in a sunny window and replace the water regularly. After it grows some solid roots, plant in a deep dot.

Once it reaches 12 inches tall, you can harvest it and restart the cycle.

10. Ginger

After you’ve taken what you need, lay a small chunk of ginger in a pot of soil with the newest bud facing the ceiling. Keep it partially covered by dirt. Keep it in a bright spot that’s not directly in sunlight and spray with water regularly to keep the soil moist but not wet.

With a bit of care, it will grow new shoots and roots. Once it’s grown tall study shoots, harvest the root. Remove a piece of the ginger and restart the process.

Now that you know how to regrow all these vegetables, you’re sure to have a flourishing garden (and an endless supply for fresh food!)
