Try to surround yourself with the same smells and lighting when trying to memorize a concept that you’ll be in when you need to recall it, such as during an exam.
You may find it helpful to wear the same type of clothing and use the same posture so that you will literally feel the same textures (14). These tips are especially useful if you know what kind of learner you are (auditory, visual, etc…)
10. Meditate
Taking a minute to collect yourself and quiet your mind is a wonderful way to decrease stress and improve memory (15).
One study found that meditating for just 20 minutes, up to 4 times per day, improves cognitive function by up to 50% (16)! If you’re unfamiliar with meditation, don’t fret. It’s very easy to learn and implement.
11. Write it out
Regardless of your preferred style of learning, writing out whatever it is you’re trying to comprehend will help. No, typing doesn’t count.
This is because writing engages more than one sense, including motor function feedback to the brain (17). The more times you write something out, the more likely you are to remember it.
