Think you have a Great Exercise Routine? Find out Why You’re Doing It Wrong

Variety Is Key To Progress

As Dr. Cedric X. Bryant explains in an article published over at ACE Fitness, there are two fairly simple reason as to why you should change your workout routine:

  1. To prevent boredom associated with doing the same things workout after workout.
  2. To avoid or delay reaching a plateau in workout performance and, subsequently, training results.

Preventing boredom is one of the most successful ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle. If you aren’t bored, you’ll have a lot more motivation to hit the gym or the road on those rough days when the last thing you want to do is head to the gym.

Plateauing in your fitness level is also another reason to avoid doing the same workout over and over again. When you plateau, your body gets less and less out of a training session. Varying your exercises and routine will force the body to function differently every time; this elicits better recovery and rebuilding because you put the body on edge.
