There are countless diets out there that supposedly help followers drop pounds and keep them off…but which ones actually work?
#1 Mediterranean
Research continues to show that a mediterranean diet – lots of plants, lean protein, a solid amount of healthy fats – is not only very useful for weight loss, but also excellent for health and longevity.
#2 Paleo
Stick to the foods that our hunter-gatherer ancestors ate, and you may find yourself on the right track to health town. Studies have found that the benefits of the paleo diet are many, running the gamut from weight loss to a lowering of risk for heart disease.
#3 Low GI
Studies have found that eating a diet that focuses on foods with a low glycemic index (GI) can lead to more significant weight loss than conventional diet plans. Primarily, GI diets emphasize whole foods that do not lead to spikes in blood sugar.
#4 Raw
Raw food diets aren’t technically a weight loss plan, but it’s highly likely that you’ll take off some pounds if you switch to a primarily raw diet, simply because it presents a chance to cut out so many sources of calories, sugars, and fats.
#5 Volumetrics
Here, the focus is on getting to eat essentially as much as you want – as long as the foods are low-density. Because followers can eat large portions of veggies, fruits, fibrous grains, and other low-density food groups, they tend to report feeling full and satisfied with minimal cravings.
#6 Sonoma
Similarly to the Mediterranean diet, the Sonoma Diet focuses on an abundance of healthy, nutrient-dense foods, as well as lean proteins and healthy fats.
