#1 Myth: Salads are the best diet food.
Fact: The “salads are healthy” fact is actually one of the biggest diet myths around. Salads certainly can be healthy, no doubt about it – but only if they actually feature vegetables and light dressings. Otherwise, salads can quickly become unhealthy once they’re loaded with cheese, croutons, creamy and oily dressings, and other toppings that pack on the fat and calories.
#2 Myth: Frequent small meals per day are better than a few big ones.
Fact: This is based somewhat in truth. Some people do find that eating fewer, smaller meals throughout the day is a good way for them to eat less while still feeling full. Unfortunately, this tactic can have the opposite effect for other people.
If you have a tendency to overeat at meals or have trouble with portion sizes, eating many small meals throughout the day can actually make things worse, as it gives you more opportunities to consume too much food. Ultimately, whether or not small meals are better than a few big meals depends on your own habits.
