There are also many mental tricks you can try if you find that simple, everyday tasks at work cause the most stress. For example, work in 20-30 minute chunks of time and then take a short break for some physical activity.
It can also help to schedule difficult projects for short chunks of time over a few days. If you find yourself stressed about emails, plan your communication time for a few set periods during the day. Outside of those time periods, do not check your email or phone.
Finally, you can also make your workday easier by doing smaller tasks first and gaining momentum to large projects.
Exercise & Yoga
In addition to tips for the workplace, there are different activities you can take part in outside of work to reduce your overall stress level.
Exercise and yoga have been proven to decrease stress. Exercise produces endorphins, which are the chemicals in the brain that make you feel good. Yoga employs deep breathing and relaxation tactics that will lower your stress level.
Massage & Acupuncture
Massage and acupuncture are two therapies that also reduce stress. Massage can decrease levels of cortisol, which is produced in during stressful situations. It also releases chemicals that can decrease your overall level of stress as well as pain.
Acupuncture uses needles to stimulate specific points on your body that enable the flow of energy. This reduces blood pressure, stress, and anxiety while relaxing your muscles.
