3 Secret Fears That Keep You Fat

by DailyHealthPost Editorial

Likewise, you may not want to give up some of your favorite foods and activities – and that’s totally understandable! Remember that weight loss shouldn’t be about denial. Rather, it should be about finding healthy replacements for the things that are having a negative effect on your well-being.

Fear of Success

Finally, and maybe counter intuitively, you may be afraid of succeeding on your weight loss journey. If you’ve gotten used to a negative body image, the impending change of success could be terrifying.

This can also include a fear of loss – do you have friends who aren’t losing weight who you feel you might drift away from as you set your sights on new goals? Maybe you’re worried that with a new physique, your personality will change, or you won’t feel like yourself. Or, maybe you’re worried about increased attention on your body – even the most well meaning of acquaintances can trigger a negative self-image spiral by telling you that you look thinner.

Overcome!

Whatever your fear is, don’t let it get in the way of improving your self-esteem, your health, and your overall well-being. If you find fear hampering your weight loss efforts, consider making a list of all of the positives that will come out of your weight loss, or talk to a trusted friend, family member, or counselor.
