5. Spirulina
Spirulina is an ideal supplements for cancer patients. The tiny algae contains one the highest levels of chlorophyll per ounce than any other plant (nearly 58 percent). The algae also contains high amounts of vitamin B, C and E. This potent cocktail of nutrients creates a two-fold attack against cancer (8).
6. Cruciferous Vegetables
Cruciferous vegetables are the ultimate anti-inflammatory food. In addition to their antifungal, anti-bacterial properties they are also rich in vitamins C, E, and K, as well as folate and minerals. These nutrient-dense vegetables help protect cells from DNA damage, render carcinogens inactive, induce cancer cell death, and inhibit tumor blood vessel formation, making them a powerful cancer-fighting choice (9).
7. Garlic
Several population studies have found that by increasing your intake of garlic you can significantly reduce your risk of certain cancers, including colon, esophagus, breast, pancreas, and stomach.
In addition to this, garlic is also capable of halting the activation of cancer-causing substances, reducing cell proliferation, enhancing DNA repair and inducing cancerous cell death (10).
8. Turmeric
The main active ingredient found in turmeric called curcumin and has been found by researchers to stop precancerous cells from changing into cancer. A number of laboratory studies on cancer cells have found that curcumin does have anticancer effects, and seem to be able to kill cancer cells as well as prevent them from growing (11).
9. Sea Vegetables
Sea vegetables, including kelp, wakame, arami, hiki, noi and kombu are abundant in minerals such as magnesium, iron, and bio-available iodine. However, the most impressive of these nutrients are their dense concentration of fucoidan, a sulfated polysaccharide that has been found to treat neoplastic diseases, including cancer. The vegetables have been found to be particularly effective in cases of colon cancer and cervical cancer (12).
10. Medicinal Mushrooms
Maitake, shiitake, cordyceps, reishi, Coriolanus, and other mushrooms have been found to be effective in the treatment and prevention of cancer. Research has found that the mushrooms increase survival times in breast, lung, and prostate patients.
Eating any of these medicinal mushrooms can help shrink cancer tumors up to 70 percent, stimulate the immune system, reduce blood supply to prostate cancer tumors, and reduce the dangerous side-effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy (13).
