This is What Happens to Your Body When You Drink 10 Cokes a Day For a Month

10 cokes a day

You’ve probably at least heard of the documentary Super Size me, a 2004 Film directed by and starring Morgan Spurlock. The film follows a 30-day period from February 1 to March 2, 2003 during which he ate only McDonald’s food with detrimental consequences.

Well, someone got a little inspiration from this documentary and decided to drink 10 cans of Coke a day for a month to illustrate the damaging effects of sugar abuse… and, oh did he prove it!

George Prior, who follows a Paleo diet and works out regularly, is the brave person who decided to go through this ordeal to prove how easy it is to consume hundreds of grams of hidden sugar though beverages. Here he is at day one looking toned, happy and energetic.

Introduction to my crazy Coke plan

Prior wrote on his blog:  “‘But,’ you’re probably thinking, ‘everyone knows it wouldn’t be healthy to drink 10 cokes a day, and besides, I only drink four Cokes a day.’”

“That’s true, perhaps you’re only drinking four Cokes, but if you add in the two glasses of orange juice, the two sweetened coffee drinks from Starbucks, the 16 ounce Odwalla drink, the two ‘healthy’ brand ice teas, and the $9 fruit smoothie you waited 10 minutes in line for, you’ve made my 10 Cokes look like child’s play. Maybe it’s not all Coke, but they’re all sugar drinks, and a big percentage of Americans drink at least the sugar equivalent of my 10 Cokes,” he explained.

Two weeks into his experiment, Prior’s face looks swollen, his body fat has increased by over 50%, and he’s gained 13 lbs.

By the end of the 30-day coke abuse trial, Prior gained 23 pounds.

Day 31 No more Coke

Was it easy to shed those extra 23 pounds, you may be thinking? You can see the details of how he lost the “coke weight” here.

Sugar is a favorite of many, but overeating it can lead to many health complications. Going off sugar might be very difficult but the benefits are definitely worth it.
