Olive oil is one of the healthiest fats around, and is a major part of the life-extending Mediterranean diet. There are countless uses of olive oil out there, so the sky is truly the limit. There’s plenty to learn about olive oil’s healthy uses, but we hope you’ll use these five recipes as a jumping off point.
1. Infusing Olive Oil
Adding herbs and spices to olive oil is a great way to take a basic, economically priced olive oil and turn it into something that will not only add zing to your food, but also impress any guest. The process is extremely simple and requires very little effort.
Take a few sprigs of your favorite herb – basil and rosemary are two great places to start – and bruise them lightly to release their oils. Add the herbs to your olive oil, cover, and store in a cool, dry place for two weeks. Enjoy drizzled over salad, or as part of another recipe! Find out more about infusing olive oil through this link.
