marathon runner honor world war II veteran

“Thanks for your service,” utters one racer after the next as they stop in their tracks mid-race to give 95-year-old Joe Bell a handshake.

Joe Bell might have been in the race himself several decades ago. The Second World War veteran instead is watching the 8 km race in San Jose, California, from the sidelines.

The video shows the competitors leaving the race to come and shake the hand and thank the war veteran for his service.

The race itself is a benefit for the Pat Tillman Foundation, which gives scholarships to military vets and their spouses.
