#3 New Prostate Cancer Drugs Could Cause Cancer To Return
Certain newly created drugs aimed treating prostate cancer may not be targeting the root cause of the disease, this was according to research published in Cell Death & Differentiation.
The study was carried out by scientists at the University of York who discovered that a process called ‘methylation’, previously thought to drive the development of cancer, occurs in cells that are already cancerous. This means that the therapies, namely drugs, aimed at reversing this process might not be effective against cancer stem cells, allowing the cancer to return.
The whole point of treatment should be to get rid of the cancer, not to encourage it to come back. This just sounds like madness.
