Fibromyalgia is a life-long illness characterized by widespread pain all over the body. People who have this condition show a variety of symptoms including trigger points on their spine, chronic muscle pain, anxiety, fatigue, digestive disorders, and insomnia (1). While fibromyalgia is not fatal, it can seriously affect the quality of life of those who are diagnosed with it (2).

This condition has no known cure; instead patients are advised on how to manage the symptoms. Even though there have been many remedies suggested for treating Fibromyalgia, one simple solution that is fun to make and use stands out: homemade scented CBD bath bombs.

What is CBD and how can it help me?

Cannabidiol which is commonly known as CBD is derived from the plant. It has all the benefits of medical marijuana but without the psychoactive effects. Unlike THC, another major component of cannabis, CBD has many health benefits. In fact, recent studies show that CBD may be more beneficial than what was previously thought. According to a 2013 study by Borgelt and colleagues, marijuana offers “significant improvement” for treating pain and muscle aches (3).

Further research (4,5) also indicates that CBD has the following health benefits:

  • Reduces inflammation;
  • Calms down epilepsy;
  • Relieves anxiety;
  • Treat skin conditions like acne;
  • Slows down the development of Alzheimer disease;
  • Helps prevent cancer;
  • Aids smoking cessation by reducing nicotine cravings.

Where Can I Buy High-Quality CBD Oil?

It is important you know that the sales of products containing CBD are regulated in some areas. In the United States for example, if you want to use products with THC levels over 0.3%, you’ll need to be in a state where marijuana use is legal. The good news is that as of October 2018, cannabis is no longer a restricted product in Canada.

CBD products are everywhere but you should be cautious about where you choose to buy. Make sure you buy from authorized dealers within the country as it’s regulated, and the quality will be much better (6).

You should also invest some time to know the quantity of CBD, THC, and other compounds in the product by checking the certificate of analysis (COA). If you see the code “ISO 17025”, it means that it’s a high-quality product.

One last thing to keep in mind is that companies selling “hemp oil” instead of “CBD oil” tend to have lower amounts of cannabidiol.
