However, not everyone has been so pleased with the book or the program. Many dissatisfied reviewers noted how restrictive the diet is (no caffeine, alcohol, dairy, soy, wheat, corn, or refined sugar), making it incredibly difficult to stick to, as well as expensive and time-consuming.
Others noted that while the book says that the diet isn’t about counting calories, the foods on the plan are incredibly low-density, with many full days of eating resulting in an intake of fewer than 700 calories and significant hunger and cravings. On the other hand, some reviewers stated that they didn’t like having to eat so frequently, and others even gained weight on the program.
Is The Fast Metabolism Diet for You?
Haylie Pomroy’s book and diet plan may not be for everyone, but for those committed to losing weight who can handle a restrictive eating plan and significant time spent preparing food, it may be a great program for shedding pounds quickly and learning to eat in a way that improves your metabolic rate. Whether or not The Fast Metabolism Diet truly works in the long term, however, is yet to be seen.
