Juicing Recipes For That Irritating Sore Throat

Fruits & Vegetables in General Can Help a Sore Throat

When we are sick, people often tell us to consume fruits and vegetables to try to get better, no matter the illness.

Well it is more than just an old wives tale as a study in the Journal of Nutrition found that the participants who took fruit and vegetables in the form of an encapsulated powder concentrate from a fruit and vegetable juice blend concluded that the participants in this group had stronger immune systems at the end of the study, and suffered from less sore throats and other illnesses.

So if you feel yourself getting a sore throat, take out your juicer and make yourself one of the following recipes every day until it has subsided:

Yellow Dragon Juice Recipe

  • 1-2 inch piece of organic ginger root
  • 1 organic lemon
  • 2 sticks of organic celery
  • ½ an organic cucumber
  • ½ an organic apple
  • 1 cup of organic kale

Green Machine Juice Recipe

  • 1 cup organic spinach
  • 1 organic green apple
  • 2 sticks of organic celery
  • 1/3 cup of organic cilantro
  • 1 organic pepper
  • Sprinkle of cayenne pepper (optional)

When making the above juices ensure you have washed all the fruit and vegetables thoroughly before hand. Then remove all the seeds from the apple and pepper, and chop all fruits and vegetables finely enough to fit down the chute of your juicing machine.

Both recipes have slightly different tastes depending on what your taste buds prefer, but both contain vegetables and herbs that can bring about a soothing and cooling effect to a sore throat, whilst also being full of immune boosting nutrients which can help to take care of the bacteria that may be causing it if drank on a regular basis.

Remember: don’t ignore a sore throat if it has been lingering for some time, and it doesn’t appear to be getting better after a week at most even with self-care treatments.

As it could be the sign of a serious problem, in which case you should seek out a naturopathic doctor or a medical doctor.
