Caffeine is a stimulant that raises blood pressure there is no "slightly" about it, the more caffeine you have in your system the higher your blood pressure will be. It is also more addictive than nicotine. The half life of caffeine is dependant on the age and weight of the person. People die fairly regularly of caffeine overdose and related ailments. It has also been shown that a short nap is a significantly better energy boost than caffeine ever will be. Caffeine consumption can and often does kill. Antioxidants found in tea and coffee can be found in other plant based drinks that do not contain caffeine. Caffeine increases metabolic rate and burns more calories purely because your body is in a stimulated state, but when you come down from that stimulated state your body goes into a depressed state. In other words your metabolic rate dips below the base line, as does your calorie burn, thus you have to stay 'loaded' to maintain the higher metabolic rate, which in turn increases your heart rate and blood pressure. It is a cycle. Your argument that caffeine consumption is not bad for you is null and void and shows not only a lack of understanding of the human body but also a lack of knowledge of how stimulants interact with the human physiology. Try again.
